Our mission at Montessori Español is to inspire children to develop a love for learning.
We apply Maria Montessori’s special teaching philosophy to develop their full potential socially, emotionally, and academically while carefully following the curriculum that is appropriate to the child’s developmental stage. This enables the child to establish a high level of personal independence, social and ethical responsibility.
Montessori Español seeks to understand the unique nature of each individual – their strengths and weaknesses – while working with him/her accordingly to get the most out of them. We strive to guide the child to think critically and independently, while developing their inner discipline, self-assurance and respect others and their environment.
We are constantly introducing the child to new elements and traditions. We not only focus on teaching a second language but we also incorporate culture and diversity knowledge. On top of that, the child will acquire the critical tool of speaking the Spanish language – a much needed device in our age of rapid globalization. We seek to best prepare them for the real world.
Montessori Español has a carefully prepared environment in which children will have the opportunity to learn and develop both cognitive and social emotional skills. The work plan is created based on the Montessori Curriculum combined with the solid experience method of teaching in a Spanish Immersion Program. We fully believe the child is able to develop their own skills when given the proper environment and materials.
Our Spanish Immersion program gives children formal and informal opportunities to engage in free and spontaneous conversations with adults and their classmates while modeling a second language in the correct and complete form. After the child discovers that he or she is beginning to understand, they will be motivated to start communicating back and forth with each other. They will be encouraged to learn new words, phrases and to fully be able to engage with people both inside and outside the classroom in the Spanish Language. Montessori will awaken the child with pride in their accomplishments resulting in the mastery of a second language.
Individualized and Group Learning: Our teaching system is individually tailored to each of our students, respecting their natural development. Montessori Español gives great importance to group learning, as this is an excellent teaching tool in the practice of a second language.
Emotional Development: Our main task is to help the child feel secure and to help them recognize themselves as a unique and individual self. We help the child gain a sense of belonging, feel pride in their accomplishments, and have the freedom to express their feelings without fear of being rejected. The child will develop a sense of respect for themselves, for others and for the environment around them, helping them become a good citizen in the future. Our job is to promote positive and mutual respect among children and adults at all times. Practicing courtesy and good manners result in a pleasant atmosphere.
